Anuvahood and Anuva Argument

Anuvahood

Adam Deacon steps into the role of writer, director and actor in his début directorial Anuvahood. Angled as Britain's first 'urban comedy' parodying films like Kidulthood, Adulthood and Shanked (which all star Deacon)

The comparisons to Kidulthood are way of the mark, think more Ali G in the house, which also stared Deacon, than gritty urban drama and you've nailed this film. Anuvahood is a light-hearted comedy aimed at the younger market, so if you get the lingo and humour it will have you in stitches, but if your a 40 year old from the suburbs avoid this film like the plague.

Ali G in the House also starred Deacon
The film also stars Michael Vu, Deacons childhood friend who co wrote the film. Other noticeable roles and cameos come from comedian Richard Blackwood, Big Brother star Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace; Youtube sensation Jazzie Zonzolo; Skins star Ollie Barbieri and former So Solid member Ashley Walters to name a few. All putting in good performances, although a lot of critics have panned the film, fans have flocked to the cinema to see it giving it an impressive £536,000 taking at the box office in it's opening weekend, whilst only being shown in 149 screens.

You'll leave the cinema wanting some Fruitella "cos it's a badman sweet" and those of you old enough to remember Richard Blackwood's '1,2,3,4, get with the wicked' song the first time around, will be humming it all day.

As it's popularity growns it might be coming to a cinema near you, check www.anuvahood.com  for full listings

Anuva Argument

Prior to the films release there were comparisons with Kidult/adulthood, this had ignited a feud between Deacon and Noel Clarke, writer and director of both 'hood' movies. Clarke issued a full rant on his blog feeling Deacon had shunned him when he had helped him get to where he is, including staring roles in three of his films as well as a lead role in would be TV series West 10 LDN.

"I want them all to succeed, get out of their area if they want and do big things, and I was gonna help them do that. but why steal my s**t to do it? Is that right?I sat on my arse when I was broke as a joke and made up the whole HOOD thing, now it’s getting used without me to make cash, and exploit people who won’t know it’s not me doing it. don’t tar me with that brush. It’s simple you do someone else’s thing WITH them, it’s a collaboration. You do someone else’s thing WITHOUT them. It’s called stealing, or as the lawyers have been calling it… Copyright infringement. (look it up)

Even with the hostilities between the two Deacon thanked Noel Clarke at his films premier. For those thinking that was the last we'd hear about it, the feud continued on twitter recently with Deacon and several of his fans accusing Clarke of being '@freemasonman' an unknown individual sending several ranting tweets about Deacon and his film, sometimes abusive and sometimes laughable. When Noel was notified of this on twitter (yes I did ask) he immediately denied it saying:

""Okay I do/have done some stupid things. But even if i had time make fake accounts. i wouldn't waste my day with people i fell out with. i would try check a girl or somethin LOL. Can't lie, fallen out with a person i was tight with. but we have spoken. this prick is not me"

The debate continued with fans, co-stars and sh*t stirrers putting their opinions in, Deacon confirmed he believed that Clarke was in fact 'Freemasonman' with; "for those asking if i think @freemason is noel clarke, i really do you know lol" I followed their tweets and it appeared they were looking to meet up and discuss the matter which I hope will resolve their issues.

Clarke and Deacon
Deacon's fans will say Clarke has gotten too big headed, why can't Deacon move on into another field, the same as Clarke had done before him. Anuvahood isn't similar to any of Clarke's films apart from being set in an urban environment.

Clarke's fans will argue that Deacon used his fame from Clarke's 'hood' movies and is looking to exploit film goers who will assume as the film has 'hood' in its title and stars Deacon (a long time actor in Clarke's films) that Clarke must be involve behind the scenes. (It appears Clarke believes this too as he retweeted a fan asking:
RT pedsays @NoelClarke did you get some moneyyy from AnuvaHood as the concept was kinda the same a Kidulthood and AdultHood with a comedic twist?
Whether your a fan of Clarke or Deacon only the box office numbers are what the makers of the film care about and this tit for tat twitter exchange does nothing more then keep Anuvahood in peoples twitter feed so maybe Deacon will have the last laugh on this one. See the trailer for Kidulthood and Adulthood below, both available on DVD now. See any similarities with Anuvahood? Apart from all staring Adam Deacon, I don't see any.
